Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has confirmed that he needs Formula 1 to return in Austria with the Austrian Grand Prix so that the team could have a residence race. “I was at the opening ceremony and had the possibility to drive there. The track is totally formula one-compatible,” the German said throughout a festive event in Graz, Austria. “I don’t identify why we (F1) don’t go there. For us (Red Bull) it would be huge for it to be our home grand prix.”
The Austrian GP was last held throughout the 2003 F1 season which is five years before Vettel had a full racing period in F1 with Red Bull. Michael Schumacher who was powerful for Ferrari at that time won the 2003 Grand Prix. The circuit selected for the race was previously known as the A1 Ring. The track has been totally rehabilitated and has now been renamed as the Red Bull Ring.
After the last race in 2003, the track was destroying and Mateschitz has exhausted a huge quantity of money to reconstruct it. The Billionaire said that the track is prepared for reopening. While F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone, has oblique about the F1 race recurring to Austria, Mateschitz thinks that it is very doubtful.
Former three times F1 winner, Niki Lauda, is also of the same estimation that the revisit might not be probable because there are still much difficulty to conquer but then it is hard to say as nobody knows what Mateschitz might be preparation. Besides Vettel, Schumacher has also uttered his wish for the go back of the race.
