Red Bull chief hospitalised in crash

http://motogp-f1-races.blogspot.comAdrian Newey was hospitalised for the precautionary checks following an accident during a Ginetta G50 Championship race at the Snetterton on Sunday.

The Red Bull technical director was the latest driver to be given the chance to compete in the series at the wheel of the Ginetta’s guest car, but was involved in a heavy accident that forced the final race of the weekend to be stopped.

Newey was heading a train of four cars when he was tipped into a spin by the car of Julien Draper as he turned into the Sear.

As Newey’s car came out of its spin, it rolled back across the circuit where it was collected by the Speedworks-entered car of Tony Hughes, which briefly caught fire following the collision.

The race was red-flagged while medics attended to the Newey at the scene before he was taken to hospital as a precaution, although he avoided serious injury.

"Adrian has been taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure after being clipped by Julien which caused Tony to have a side on collision with Newey's DynoJet car," Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said.

"It's testament to the strength of the G50 roll cage that the car withstood heavy impact and there were no serious injuries.
