'Ferrari want Vettel to replace Massa'

Not only has the German admitted that racing for the Italian outfit would be "special" but now di Montezemolo has exposed he wants Vettel.

"Sebastian is fast, smart and young," he told Cologne tabloid Express. "Sooner or afterward he will be driving a red car."

The newspaper added that Ferrari are eager to have the German's services in 2012, teaming him up with Fernando Alonso as Felipe Massa's replacement.

Vettel, though, insists he is dedicated to Red Bull Racing: "I am a part of the Red Bull family."
However, even Red Bull team proprietor Dietrich Mateschitz admits his outfit could face a tough confront retaining the German in the face of the "dream" of racing for Ferrari.

"It's a once in a life-time dream to drive for Ferrari but we will make send-off a difficult decision for him," said Mateschitz.

"We have so far been also quick to agree. And he wants to win."

Cal Crutchlow is now sure that he will be at full strength to take the most out of the Official MotoGP Test at the Sepang on February 1st, despite recently undergoing shoulder surgery. The 25 year-old British rider, who will talk his rookie season with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team, underwent an operation last week in Manchester and explained that Professor Len Funk who performed the procedure expects him to be ready in time for Malaysia.

“I not working at the end of the 2009 and ripped the reverse bankart at the back of the shoulder – it was very alike to what Valentino Rossi had,” Crutchlow said. “Because I rode on it all year it really wore the shoulder joint so when they opened it, it was worse than expected. They did the best job possible and have said I should make a full recovery. I should make it by February for the Sepang Test. Everyone was pleased with the outcome of the process.”

He sustained: “I have three weeks in a sling but I'm having regular physiotherapy every day, and it’s coming along very well. I’m using the hyperbaric chamber which is a brilliant facility. I use that for an hour and a partially every day, then go for physio for an hour then do a bit of training on the static bike at home. The arm is high-quality when I take the sling off, and I can do almost everything. The range of group already is nearly full, it’s just that the muscle is still a little bit sore as you would expect.”


Badoer bids emotional farewell to Ferrari

Badoer, who has been with the Italian team since 1998, took charge of a 2009-spec F60 for a expression run at the event, which is held annually in the Italian city.

“The only apologize for is that I was only able to do two races,” said Badoer. “The team had self-assurance in me at that time and that is something I will always be grateful for. Webber ended season with fractured shoulder

http://motogp-f1-races.blogspot.com/Red Bull’s Mark Webber drove the last four rounds of the 2010 season with a fractured shoulder, the Australian driver has revealed. Webber sustained the injury in a cycling accident prior to the October’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Webber chose not to divulge what had happened to the Red Bull team bosses and details have only just emerged in a new book published in the Australia. It was the first time he had been back on a mountain bike since breaking his leg in late 2008.

"I was riding with a great friend of mine,” explained Webber in ‘Mark Webber, Up Front’. “Suddenly, he crashed right in front of me and I had nowhere to go but straight through the ears of the horse! I suffered what they call a skier's fracture to my right shoulder.”

With the fracture too fine to be treated, Webber, who was leading the championship at the time, received pre-race injections to cope with the pain. Only his physio Roger Cleary and FIA medic Gary Harstein are believed to have known about the injury.

Webber narrowly lost the Japanese race to team mate Sebastian Vettel, after which his championship challenge faded, and many will now question whether the fracture effectively cost him the title, even if Webber himself disagrees.

He broke his right leg in November 2008 after being hit by a car while cycling in training for his Tasmania charity challenge. What wasn’t known by his team or the public at the time was that Webber also broke his shoulder in that incident.

Mugello played host to the World Championship on the first weekend of June as round four called on the beautiful Tuscan countryside, and with the weather remaining fine throughout the three days it was an eventful stage in Italy.

The official pre-event saw some World Championship riders attempt to make a traditional Italian pizza, although their dough skills failed to match up to their abilities on board a motorcycle! The serious business began later that afternoon as a quintet of the MotoGP stars – Nicky Hayden, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli – attended the pre-race press conference as anticipation for the race grew.

The time for talking was soon over as the on-track action commenced and it was reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi who took control of the opening practice session, setting the fastest time as Casey Stoner experienced a difficult start to the session.


January launch for 2011 Sauber

Sauber have become the first team to confirm a launch date for their 2011 car. The Ferrari-powered C30 will be unveiled at Valencia on January 31, the day before the first pre-season test of the New Year gets underway at the Spanish circuit.

The C30 will be piloted by Japan’s Kamui Kobayashi, who scored 32 of the team’s 42 points in 2010, along with Mexican newcomer Sergio Perez, this year’s GP2 Series runner-up.

The car will be the first Sauber designed under the guidance of technical director James Key, who joined the Swiss squad from Force India earlier this season.

“We’re setting our sights high, and things are looking good so far,” team principal Peter Sauber said of the C30 earlier this week. “James Key has proved in the past that he knows how to build fast cars.

"All the changes to the technical regulations - including the ban on double diffusers, the introduction of Pirelli tyres, adjustable rear wings and the option of using KERS - make this a particularly exacting challenge this year.”

All 12 teams are due to participate in the three-day Valencia test commencing February 1. That will be followed by Jerez and Barcelona sessions later that month, with a final pre-season test expected in Bahrain in early March.


Recap 2010: Gran Premio bwin de España

Shortly after the riders’ game faces were on at the press conference, in which the early Championship leader Valentino Rossi and co. gave their views ahead of the weekend.

It was not long until the on-track action commenced and Casey Stoner took up the pace in FP1, Jorge Lorenzo was the fastest in the FP2, but it was Dani Pedrosa who qualified in pole position after setting the best time in qualifying by 0.285s from Lorenzo.

In front of a feverish 120,000 crowd race day began with the 125cc contest, and it was an all-Spanish podium led by Pol Espargaró that started what was to be a fantastic day for the home fans, despite an early crash for pole holder Marc Márquez.


FIA publishes 2011 entry list

Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, published the first draft of the 2011 championship entry list on Tuesday. Six teams have yet to finalise their driver line-ups, with Sauber’s Sergio Perez the only new name confirmed so far.
